Waldron partnered with The Evans School of Public Policy and Governance, University of Washington to conduct a survey of the CEOs of large NGOs and foundations nationwide. The results stem from survey responses provided by CEOs, Executive Directors, and Presidents of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and foundations across the United States.
The survey focuses on the career paths of these leaders as well as the "migration" of CEOs from the private and public sectors. It also examines succession planning, board partnerships, and multi-sector collaborations.
Top findings include:
- Women make up 29% of CEOs
- 59% of respondants experienced a sector transition during their career
- Less than half of the organizations surveyed have a succession plan in place
